    About the Client
Crocs is a globally recognized footwear brand celebrated for its bold personality, playful design language, and unmistakable comfort. With flagship locations in major cities around the world, the SoHo, New York store represents the brand’s vibrant and expressive identity at the heart of one of the most creative retail districts in the United States.

    Project Summary
Villa Lighting, in collaboration with Ideoli, worked with Crocs New York’s SoHo flagship to create a striking custom lighting feature that would embody the brand’s playful and unconventional identity. The concept centered around a funky, spaghetti-like sculptural light fixture suspended from the ceiling—an energetic visual element designed to capture attention and enhance the immersive retail atmosphere.

    Lighting Concept & Approach
The original concept referenced traditional neon lighting, known for its fluid shapes and glowing visual appeal. However, Ideoli engineered a more efficient and durable solution by recreating the neon aesthetic using modern LED technology.

To achieve this effect, the fixture was constructed using heat-bent acrylic tubing that forms the outer shell of the design. Inside each tube, integrated LED tape lighting was installed back-to-back, creating an even, continuous glow that mimics the appearance of classic neon while delivering the efficiency, longevity, and safety benefits of LED illumination.

The result is a sculptural lighting installation that feels spontaneous and organic -perfectly aligned with the energetic personality of the Crocs brand.

    Key Achievements

    • Neon Aesthetic with Modern LED Technology:
While the design originally called for traditional neon, Villa Lighting and Ideoli reimagined the fixture using integrated LED lighting within heat-bent acrylic tubes. This approach preserved the vibrant neon look while improving energy efficiency, reliability, and maintenance performance.
    • Complex Sculptural Form:
The fixture’s free-flowing “spaghetti” geometry required careful planning and fabrication. The acrylic tubes were precisely heat-bent to achieve the dynamic looping shapes, allowing the final installation to appear spontaneous while maintaining structural integrity.
    • Seamless LED Integration:
LED tape lighting was installed back-to-back inside the acrylic shell, producing a uniform glow across the entire fixture. This technique ensured consistent brightness while eliminating hotspots, maintaining the smooth neon-like visual effect.
    • Feature Lighting for a Flagship Experience:
Suspended dramatically from the ceiling, the sculptural fixture acts as a visual centerpiece within the Crocs SoHo flagship, reinforcing the brand’s playful identity while creating a memorable retail environment for visitors.

    Impact
The custom lighting installation brings an unmistakable energy to the Crocs SoHo flagship store, transforming a simple lighting element into an expressive sculptural feature.

Through the collaboration between Villa Lighting and Ideoli, the project successfully combined creative design, advanced fabrication, and modern LED technology. The spaghetti-inspired fixture functions not only as illumination, but also as a visual statement piece that enhances the store’s immersive retail design and leaves a lasting impression on visitors.

This project highlights the ability of Villa Lighting and Ideoli to translate a brand’s personality into custom architectural lighting solutions that are both technically advanced and visually striking.
