Title 24 of the California of the California Code of Regulations aims to ensure new and existing buildings achieve energy efficiency while preserving environmental quality both indoors and outdoors. The standards for lighting efficiency help to achieve this by not only limiting the total amount of lighting power in buildings but by also specifying certain provisions to improve energy efficiency and overall light quality, such as having a dimming systems integrated with automatic daylight and occupancy sensors, and specific efficacy and color rendering index (CRI) requirements.
