Ideoli is thrilled to share a conversation with Jessica Di Donato, an accomplished interior designer from Toronto, Canada
Welcome to a world where creativity knows no bounds and lighting is more than just illumination—it’s an art form. At Ideoli Group, we’re passionate about bringing imagination to life through lighting solutions that transcend the ordinary. Today, we’re thrilled to take you behind the scenes of one of our most intriguing projects: the American Eagle project. Join us as we explore how we turned the vision of this iconic American clothing and accessories retailer into a reality that shines brighter than ever before. A Vision Beyond Fashion American Eagle had a vision that went beyond traditional retail aesthetics. They didn’t just want a store; they wanted an experience. They envisioned their space as a captivating fusion of fashion and industrial-inspired design. The challenge? To physically suspend raw denim garments and to transform empty cardboard tubes into stunning decorative light fixtures. It was a vision that demanded creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship. Custom Craftsmanship: The Heart of the Project The cornerstone of our solution was a meticulously designed custom metal framework. This framework would serve as the canvas on which the entire vision would come to life. But it was more than just a structure; it was a testament to the artistry of design and the power of imagination. Pendant Lights: Where Elegance Meets Industrial One of the defining features of our design was the use of pendant-style lighting fixtures. Crafted in the shape of large domes, these fixtures brought an air of elegance and modernity to the industrial theme. They not only illuminated the denim display but also added a touch of sophistication to the store. It was a perfect fusion of form and function. Hidden Tube Lighting: The Element of Surprise But we didn’t stop at elegance; we introduced an element of surprise. Inside faux cardboard tubes were hidden tube lighting fixtures. The result? An unexpected interplay of light and shadow that created an unforgettable shopping experience. The contrast between the industrial exterior and the warm, inviting glow from within was nothing short of magical. Effortless Installation: Making Dreams Come True In the world of retail, time is precious, and so is precision. Our team designed the metal framework to be delivered in easily assembled pieces. This approach not only streamlined the installation process but also ensured a perfect fit. Picture the satisfaction of seeing this masterpiece assembled on the ground and gracefully lifted into place—it was a moment of pure transformation. Illuminate Your Vision with Ideoli Group The American Eagle project is a testament to Ideoli Group’s unwavering commitment to turning dreams into reality. From simple color changing applications to complex installs where lighting is responding to movement and sound. Many of our clients come to us for dynamic lighting solutions, but how do we do it? The answer is through tailored control systems. DMX is one such lighting control protocol which allows users to have ultimate control over their lighting needs. It is commonly used throughout the industry including theater, retail, commercial, hospitality and even residential applications. In a DMX system, Lighting fixtures are grouped into what’s called a universe, where each fixture can be controlled individually. The lighting fixtures can be customized even further. Τhe DMX system can control small sections within an individual fixture as well as alter the color of the light. DMX will give you ultimate control over your lighting needs, so why not use it? George: So Chris when we work with our partners 9 out of 10 of them are international or at least national here in the country, multiple locations, multiple products and just more large-scale national accounts. Last year I got to work on a personal project with the family business. Grew up at 5 years old, had a restaurant my parents bought a restaurant and since 5 years old till now have owned that restaurant, my parents working at it and last year just took it on to basically renovate it using the resources, team, products that we offer here at Ideoli and just kind of do a nice family restaurant. It was more of a pet project for myself but using our team, Chris talk about it just internally how it was treated, even with the team like it was a multinational account and the way we helped pick the materials and all that, just bringing it all together. Chris: It’s always exciting obviously to bring family into what you do, everyone here at Ideoli we all say family first we’re truly I know you’re a mama’s boy just like me so to be able to help our families is tremendous from the start right? The cool challenge with your family’s restaurant was just all those little pieces to do furniture and lighting and full plants and the bathroom fixtures and just all these little details tile that in, bring it all into one shipment so it’s all coordinated and all shows up at the site at the same time, to be on site, help coordinate the workings go with the contractors this and that. I mean it was really sort of a case study, an initial case study of what we’re doing now with our full bids that we’re doing across 600 unit multi-family complexes. So it was a lot of fun, was definitely a learning experience and then obviously cool for you I’m sure just being at the family side. George: Totally cool and just seeing my parents and patience I just said hey have patience this isn’t top priority on the timeline we’re going to put, it we’re going to get it to you and then just seeing it done and then just all the customers after that just, it’s proud, family business just proud, but it’s cool being able to tie my business our business here with the family business and just kind of bring that to life, it was just a cool experience. Chris: Absolutely. From the team as well, being able to help each other out it’s like a good morale booster everyone was into it, it was just a really fun exciting project to work on. George: Amen brother amen. George Stroumboulis, Ideoli’s CEO and Co-Founder: “Driving from Orange Country to Beverly Hills, we have a job site going on”. George continues, “We are overseeing 300 fixtures being installed with the electrician’s crew and we are excited to see our fixtures in action. And figuring out how to breathe in these things as we go”. George is admiring Ideoli’s quality, “They are looking absolutely beautiful. They have this amazing hover effect. Looks like an eclipse when you look at it straight on.” Stay connected with #ideoli online at ideoli.com and on all our social media platforms – Facebook (facebook.com/ideoligroup), Twitter (twitter.com/ideoli), Instagram (instagram.com/ideoligroup/), Vimeo (vimeo.com/ideoli), LinkedIn (linkedin.com/company/ideoli).
MINI CHAT: SHIPPING TO GLOBAL DESTINATIONS IS ONGOING. George: We always say that we’re global, international, international global, all this stuff and it truly is. If you look at the last 60 days and what we’ve shipped from our facilities to global destinations that include orders, containers going to Costa Rica, going to Chile, going to the Middle East, we are truly International and we often take that for granted because it’s become second nature for us and the logistics teams that we have in place, the accounting teams, the certification teams, all the partners that we’ve assembled to be able to do this and basically look at the world as a global landscape and sales potential, has really pushed us to another level where a lot of our clients now we’re coming to us and thinking about global expansion and engaging us from those conversations. Chris talk to us from your standpoint, when it comes to certifying in local markets and how things need to take place in Saudi Arabia versus Chile versus Argentina versus Australia and how, from a high-level without going into detail how we address that. Chris: I mean to be honest it’s not even just internal, right, like we have a phenomenal internal team on the operation side and the engineering side that is organizing everything, getting all the documentation together, obviously making sure the product is viable and can work in all these different countries and areas around the world but even just relying on the outside members that we have so, our different testing labs and their expertise and what they bring to the table and even our freight forwarders and things like that that are helping us ship even within delivering the door of these foreign countries. It’s an amazing network that we have together and so many different pieces to it but the fact that were able to quarterback it in house just makes it seamless. George: And this network now more than ever because of travel constraints and having our local partners in these countries supporting us has just proven vital especially in this new world. Chris: Absolutely.
George: All right Chris you are a pretty low-key humble dude, can we agree on that to a certain extent? Chris: Sure. George: Yeah, aside from the posters of yourself on the ceiling, with the shirt off, and my ceiling, but anyways, that being said there’s something pretty awesome that happened in the last 30, 40 days that we haven’t really talked about and that is you winning 40 under 40 or being selected as 40 under 40 under LEDs magazine which is a huge feat, so a round of applause for you man. It’s great, tell me what are your thoughts, just being selected by one of the industry’s, our industry’s Bible when it comes to technology, right? Chris: It is exciting to be honest. Obviously LEDs magazine is a technical publication, they focus a lot on the engineering side, in new products and research and the future of lighting and all that kind of stuff so it’s a really cool publication to be associated with and even diving into, when you look at the class, a lot of those guys are people that I went to University with, I studied with, either came after me, before me as well, it’s a cool group, great publication, it’s exciting yes. George: Absolutely, and the class if you look at all the names, it’s great to be a part of that. 2020 when there’s a lot of s*** going on in this world, it’s good to be recognized and bring your back over here man, we’re going to pat you on the back. Chris: Oh thank you, thank you! I appreciate that. George: Absolutely awesome man, Onwards! Chris: Cool – thank you.
