A: Ideoli is a custom-interiors specialist that creates vibrant products for its progressive partners located in markets around the world. We are experts in the design, prototyping and manufacturing of lighting fixtures, furnishing elements and showcase pieces, and adopting them to market-specific conditions quickly. Ideoli has quickly become a go-to leader in the custom development of products for various client types looking to expand and implement cutting-edge technology lighting products and other elements. Q: How was your company founded? A: Ideoli was founded in 2014 by George Stroumboulis and Chris Hartswick in New York City. Both George and Chris worked together previously and were part of a LED lighting company startup. That startup experienced tremendous growth within a few short years and was later acquired and went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Now working for a larger corporation, both guys knew it was time to start their own company. With an international footprint, they knew to be successful, they had to tap into markets outside of the United States quickly, during the initial stages of their company’s infancy. Both George and Chris complement each other in their personalities, skillset, craziness and drive to be the best at what they do, while having fun along the way. Which is evident with the team they have established and the travels around this world. Q: What types of services/products do you offer to your clients? A: Through an invigorated and integrated design and manufacturing approach, Ideoli creates the highest quality products that are installed in retail, restaurant, hospitality, commercial and industrial environments across the world. We design and produce lighting fixtures, furnishing elements, showcase pieces and also assist with the sourcing of products when necessary. – Lighting Fixtures: we fabricate custom lighting fixtures that are designed by lighting experts and feature the latest LED lighting and driver technologies on the market. We can create for any application imaginable and on any scale—large or small. – Furnishing Elements: we develop the highest-quality furniture and fixtures for retail and restaurant environments. Depending on the requirements, we craft elements needed to bring the experience to life. – Showcase Pieces: we conceptualize the most magnificent statement pieces for those high-profile applications. Whether you require a single fixture or a few elements for a flagship opportunity, we can drive the long and creative process with all parties. – Sourced Products: we are procurement collaborators when our clients need to buy better or seek items already existing on the market. We aid our countless international partners when customization is not required. When engaged, we own the process and work with existing partners to deliver products per specifications. Q: Who are your clients and what are some of the key challenges you’re helping them solve? A: Our clients include reputable global brands in the retail, restaurant, hospitality, commercial and industrial industries. We work with companies such as Hilton, American Girl, WeWork, Carls Jr., California Pizza Kitchen and dozens of other brands to design and manufacture their custom lighting and furniture products. Our industry partners include the most progressive companies in the design, specification, distribution and architectural arenas around the world. Some of the key challenges we’re helping to solve is through our value proposition is being able to take a product concept for a new space, work with the client to refine their specific requirements, prototype samples quickly, certify as needed and roll into mass production in a matter of weeks. This has truly revolutionized the way we go to market and clients realize this. We had a client for example where we developed a custom LED fixture for their global locations, from the time of approval, we were manufacturing 20,000+ units monthly and were able to certify this for 30+ countries in a matter of months. Something that is not the norm. Q: What makes you stand out from your competition? A: We make product customization an easy process. From an idea in your head to an inspiration sample in hand, Ideoli helps its partners design, prototype and mass-produce customized products across multiple industries. We have mastered the process and have accelerated the time it takes from taking an idea in your head, to furnishing your physical locations. We also have a boutique team with a global footprint. With strategic offices in the United States, Asia, South America and Europe, we have a team of invigorators that work together around the clock to provide the solution in product design and manufacturing on another level. Clients are blown away how quickly and professionally we bring their product concepts to life. Q: What are your plans for the future? A: We are continuing to build our international footprint with new offices opening in Argentina, Greece and Vietnam. Our ability to bring products to market is dependent on the global network we have created and continue

Around the world: 70-hour trip from Los Angeles, to London, Athens and back

Ideoli team members have been busy racking up frequent flyer miles on their adventures to meet face-to-face with clients all around the world to discuss projects and production. Most recently, Ideoli’s Co-Founders George and Chris went on a 70-hour adventure beginning in Los Angeles with stops in London and Athens before returning to The States.  At a closer glimpse into their trip, George and Chris made their first stop in London where they had a busy day full of meetings to discuss an upcoming project and final install for a client. After completing the day’s meetings, the Ideoli leadership duo took to the skies and headed to Athens for a quick one-day trip. Here, they were able to conduct more than five meetings, meet with local team members in Athens, and enjoy the many sites and shops of the city. Another bonus to traveling to the markets Ideoli serves is the team’s ability to tap into and experience local trends first hand. By immersing themselves into local culture, Ideoli is aware of what and how users react to the products they provide. By applying this knowledge, Ideoli is also able to offer their clients advice and insight into what their customers are more likely to value when visiting their locations. As the company continues to expand into various parts of the world, the team aims to maximize their face-to-face time with clients, distributors, production teams, installers and others involved inthe various stages of Ideoli’s work. In doing so, Ideoli can guarantee that the client’s vision will come to life in a seamless fashion. Ideoli strives to deliver top quality service to our clients around the world –even if it means a 70-hour, multi-destination trip across the globe. We look forward to the next trip…where in the world will Ideoli travel to next?

In between meetings: Acropolis challenge with zero prep

On their most recent travels around the globe, Ideoli Co-Founders George Stroumboulis and Chris Hartswick found themselves in Athens, Greece. Since it was Chris’s first-time visiting Greece, the duo decided to do what every tourist would do in Athens– climb the Acropolis on a two-hour break between meetings.  Climbing to the top of the Acropolis is no easy task. Sitting at more than 490 feet above sea level, the top of the hill provides a beautiful view of the city, marvelous ancient ruins, and is a true test of endurance. Faced with steep inclines, uneven pathways, and a variety of stairs, the trip to the top can be a true challenge for the everyday person. Layer in 90-degree weather and all black clothing like George and Chris did, and you are in for “loads of fun.” Although the more than 6,000-step journey was a challenge, Chris and George faced it head on with determination. Much like every task at Ideoli, the team comes together to accomplish any task at hand and the Acropolis was no different. Until next time Athens! Be sure to stay tuned for more glimpses into our future Ideoli travels.

Ideoli creates custom LED end-to-end chandelier for one-of-a-kind lighting application

Ideoli is back at it again! A commercial client reached out to Ideoli in the hopes of taking a bland, industrial style space met with many limitations and turn it into an enjoyable, warm work environment. Ideoli’s approach was to take the already in-place cement beams and link them together to create an amazingstatement lighting piece. The customized end-to-end chandelier’s design features multiple fixtures mimicking traditional salt mine units, glass casings connected by black metal bases and rods along the ceiling, plus the latest LED chip and driver technology. The connected rods create a grid layout and captivate the attention of any visitor, providing an industrial look that would fit perfectly into an array of commercial and retail spaces. Always up for a challenge, Ideoli was thrilled to be tasked with this assignment and see how they could invigorate this space. When the final design came to fruition, the client was pleasantly surprised.  Not only does the LED end-to-end chandelier illuminate the room, it provides an otherwise attractive feeling to a cold and industrial space. Now, the office space is welcoming and the LED end-to-end chandelier offers a statement piece to those who enter. Looking forward to our next challenge. Let us know how we can help invigorate your space!

Inspiration from Toronto’s royal Ontario museum (rom)

In addition to being a growing, critical market for Ideoli, Toronto is also a city that inspires our creativity! Recently, Ideoli’s Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Chris Hartswick, took some time during his business trip in Toronto to visit the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). This stunning museum houses world-class collections of art, culture and history. With over one million visitors per year, ROM tops the attendance charts among museums in Canada, and it’s also one of the most-visited museums in the world. The museum opened over 100 years ago and has since had several additions, the latest of which is an architecturally stunning design by Daniel Libeskind. The structure resembles large gems or minerals, and it’s unique, beautiful design inspire us to create stunning showcase products of our own.  Wherever we go, we’re always on the lookout for inspiring food, architecture or anything else that helps keep us invigorated, and Toronto’s ROM is a great example of one of our inspirations.

Expansion into Canada’s economic hub — Toronto, Ontario

Not only is Toronto the largest city in Canada, with a metro area of over 5 million people, but it’s also one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with a vibrant, diverse culture. We may be a little biased, as our CEO and Co-Founder George Stroumboulis was born in Toronto, but we love this city and see great potential to expand Ideoli’s footprint here.  As we become more of a global company, Ideoli has been expanding its North American operations from California and New York to now also include Toronto. Having a strong footprint in Toronto helps for a variety of reasons, including giving us more flexibility to manage challenges such as international trade tariffs, as well as access to new talent pools, new partners and a booming construction and real estate market. With the development of new condos and other high rises in Toronto, we see a great opportunity to add our lighting products and other fixtures and furniture to these spaces. Expanding to new markets and supporting our partners growth is what we’re all about! Stay tuned for more updates on our activities in Toronto and throughout Canada

Chris’ tech corner – Led color changing Y-fixture

Ideoli’s resident tech expert —our Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Chris Hartswick— is back again to explain how our new Y fixture delivers great functionality and design for our clients.  The Y fixture can be used as a standalone light fixture, or multiple units can be combined to create cool designs. “Developing our Y fixture was actually a really fun project, ” says Chris. “Our client is a high-end gym that wanted to develop a unique space where the light fixtures could actually change in coordination with what was going on. So whether it’s yoga, or cycling, or anything, they needed a fixture that could react to what they were doing. ” In addition to being highly configurable in shape, the Y fixture also has the flexibility to help clients create the vibe they’re looking for based on when and where the lights are used. “The second aspect of the Y fixture that makes it so exciting is it’s color-changing ability. Whether it’s installed as an individual unit or installed as a grouping, the beauty is it all gets wired together and they react at the same time,” says Chris. Stay tuned for more updates from Chris on how our world-class technology helps clients invigorate their spaces!

    The cons of entrepreneur life

Being an entrepreneur can be incredibly fun and rewarding, but it’s important to recognize the downsides in order to find the right balance in life and find a sustainable way to move forward.  As our CEO and Co-Founder George Stroumboulis notes, frequently traveling for work can be exciting, but it’s also a grind and takes away from family time. On a recent international trip, he traveled 15 hours for just four hours of meetings. And even though he was only away for a short time, having his four-year-old daughter cry when seeing him leave and asking him not to go on the trip was heartbreaking. However, George is committed to finding a good balance and tries to incorporate his family in his work, such as by bringing his daughters to his office and even jobsites when possible, rather than only being around on the weekends. George comes from an entrepreneurial family, so he knows that starting and running a business can be a mixed bag, and it’s important to be honest about the pros and cons so as not to burnout. By sharing this story, we hope we can help other entrepreneurs struggling with the downsides of this lifestyle. Speaking honestly about these challenges can encourage the entrepreneur community to come up with better ways to counteract the negatives of this role.

10 cities, 5 days, 1 goal— Ideoli installs across the USA

In addition to growing our products in markets across the world, there are also so many great opportunities to grow right here within our home market, the US. That means that we’re often taking trips all over this huge country to meet with clients and partners, and we wanted to document some of the progress we’ve made by taking a whirlwind, five-day trip to visit 10 cities in the US where our products are installed, covering nearly 10,000 miles.  To do so, we sent our uber-talented Production guru, Kosta, across the country with a camera and coffee in hand. He started in the East Coast in New York and made his way to Baltimore, Orlando and Atlanta to film our LED lighting products, custom decorative light fixtures and quality furnishings. Then he headed west to Denver, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, to capture our custom end-to-end chandelier and LED lighting fixtures. From there, he made his way to what turned out to be a not-so-sunny Los Angeles and San Diego to check in our round glass LED fixtures, custom furnishings and LED backlit mirrors. Lastly, he headed back east to Stamford, Connecticut, to capture our dome-shaped lighting pendants. Being as focused as we are on global expansion, it was great to also take some time to review what we are doing right here in our backyard!

One meal at a time – invigorate your community

As we build out our international footprint, we want to make sure we’re also making a positive impact on the local communities where we operate. “Invigorate Your Community” is an initiative we started to help deliver this positive impact and influence on those around us. We gain a lot from the communities we serve, so we think it’s important to give back and invigorate those communities too.  An example of how we do this is by volunteering for causes we care about. Recently, the Ideoli team volunteered at Encore Community Services in the Times Square area of New York City, where we served over 200 hot lunches and packed 1,200 meals for seniors. Encore Community Services provides seniors with a range of caring and quality services to help them live independent and dignified lives. We look forward to invigorating more communities around the world by giving back with our time, money and other resources. Stay tuned for more updates on how we’re making a positive impact on the communities where we operate!
